Simpson & Brown Architects, is one of Scotland's
leading architectural practices which specialises in conservation. The
Practice was founded by
James Simpson and
Stewart Brown in 1977. Based in Edinburgh, S&B has grown steadily from
18 in 1997 to its present size of 35. In 1999 we expanded by the addition
of three new partners -
Andy Davey,
John Sanders and
Elizabeth Hurst. There is also one senior associate, Rachel Mayhew;
and four other associates, Georgina Allison, Michael Pontin, Jenny
Robertson and Susan Whittle. As well as architects we also employ
technicians, architectural historians, assistants and students. Our
administrative team includes an accountant, a PA, job-share secretaries,
an administrator and an office junior.
We entered the new millennium bug-free and commenced a
complete re-networking of the main office. We are now fully computerised
with up-to-date technology. Our new e-mail address is: admin@simpsonandbrown.co.uk
or you can easily e-mail any member of staff using their name, e.g. ehurst@simpsonandbrown.co.uk.
It would be true to say that there is considerable
expertise and experience in the repair, restoration, alteration and
adaptation for new uses of existing, particularly historic, buildings. Our
work includes high-quality repairs, careful conservation and scholarly
restoration, complex alterations and new buildings. Project values range
up to £6.5M, often involving multiple clients, phasing and different types
of contract.
Simpson & Brown are members of a wide number of
organisations
